Conservera Castreña (La Castreña)
Conservera Castreña is situated in Castro Urdiales (Cantabria). It produces anchovy fillets brands, such as La Castreña, El Muellecillo, Fisher Man, Oriental Brand, El Vendedor.
CONSERVERA CASTREÑA,S.A., was founded 8th August 1986, starting production activies, 26th October 1986. It is situated in Castro Urdiales, in the beautiful valley of Sámano.
It produces anchovy fillets brands, such as LA CASTREÑA, EL MUELLECILLO, FISHER MAN, ORIENTAL BRAND and EL VENDEDOR.
Our products quality is the only principle on which our company is run.
Products
Anchovies in a brine solution
It is elaborated with anchovies from the Cantabric Sea. They are selected by size an quality. They are then make up by the expert workers hands.
The anchovies are placed into tins, layer onto layer with some salt in between them. This process is called "vera carne". This is an Italian term for this process, because Italian people came to Spain to produce and trade with anchovies around Spanish coast.
Once this tin is completed they press them, until the anchovies mature. Then is when the anchovy is ready for trading.
• Anchovies fillets in olive oil
They are elaborated with anchovies called "Engraulis encrasicholus". They are caught during the spring when they approach to the seashore.
After a maturing process that lasts at least 180 days, they are cut into filets. The workers take the skin, the scales and the central bone off.
The anchovies are packed and covered by olive oil. Everything is natural and without artificial additives.
• Anchovies fillets in soya oil
They are elaborated with anchovies called "Engraulis anchoita" in vegetable oil.
They are elaborated in a traditional way after being 180 days under press.
